Become a Certified Instructor or Evaluator

Approved instructors and evaluators must demonstrate understanding of parkour philosophy, training and safety rules and the ability to pass these skills on to students. Please note, we do follow the humane hierarchy and train with positive reinforcement and expect our instructors and evaluators to demonstrate these same standards.

Instructors may teach dog parkour classes and will be listed on our website. They may not approve titles. In order to become an approved instructor, the following must be completed:

  • Must hold a Novice title or higher.

  • Successfully complete an in person or online Instructor Workshop

  • Successfully demonstrate teaching skills of students using positive reinforcement, either in person or by video.

  • Demonstrate "parkour eye", the ability to create a fun, safe atmosphere for both dog and handler, and the ability to problem solve.

Evaluators may teach dog parkour classes, and approve Novice and Training Level titles. In order to become an approved evaluator, the following must be completed:

  • Must have a Championship Title

  • Successfully complete an in person or online Instructor Workshop

  • Successfully demonstrate teaching skills of students, either in person or by video.

  • Successfully demonstrate the ability to evaluate parkour performances, either in person or by video assessment.

Here is a brief overview of how the online class works:

Our next class begins Friday March 1st 2024 at 2pm Register here

Class will be a combination of webinar and facebook group. We will ¨meet¨ via webinar (approximately 1 hr) every other week, students will have homework assignments regarding webinar material. Students will need the ability to submit videos as well as view webinars (either recorded or live).

The webinar portion will be recorded so you can still participate even if you can´t attend at that time. The webinar portion will be held every Friday at 2:00pm EST.

Cost- $250. This includes facebook group discussion, webinars, homework assignments, and review of teaching videos after the class is complete. Completing this class will NOT guarantee that the student becomes an IDPKA instructor, they will need to successfully complete the rest of the required material (novice title, submit 5 teaching videos, sign code of conduct).

The course should be eligible for CPDT CEUs as Abigail is a DVM. Past students have had their CEUs allowed for both CPDT-KA and KSA.
